When I'm not writing code, I like to enjoy a movie or a TV show in full high definition and 7.1 surround sound. The problem is, my 63" rear projection HD TV is coming up on 6 years old now. The face has a few scratches now, it's not as bright as it used to be, I'm constantly having to set the color convergence, and occasionally, the vertical hold will flip up a page or two. Time for a new TV. I've been looking around at allot of different LCD and plasma tvs, and I'm surprised that the price has come down so far.



It looks like I can get a comparable 63" LCD rear projections using DHL (instead of the old CRT) TV for about $1500. Alternatively, I could go with a plasma. The plasmas are supposed to last longer, but I've heard a few horror stories about images getting burned into them, and they're more expensive. Feel free to comment here on your experiences with new TV, and what you recommend.
